Nestled in downtown DC's CityCenter, this hotel just steps away from the city's finest dining experiences. The Walter E. Washington Convention Center is only a few blocks away, and iconic landmarks like The White House, National Portrait Gallery, and Smithsonian museums are within a ten-minute stroll.
The National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC) is the only national museum devoted exclusively to documenting African American life, history, and culture. Established by Congress in 2003 and opened in 2016 as the 19th museum of the Smithsonian Institution, it houses over 40,000 artifacts and nearly 100,000 members.
NMAAHC stands on four pillars:
-
Providing an interactive exploration of African American history.
-
Highlighting the influence of global cultures on American stories.
-
Reflecting American values like resiliency and optimism through African American experiences.
-
Collaborating with museums and educational institutions nationwide.
